Saltimbanco
Dave and I saw Cirque de Soleil's Saltimbanco last night and let me say -- it was amazing.
I would love to compare it to the show we saw last summer -- Quidam -- but really can't since that was a bigtop show and this was an arena show and the two really are quite different.
According to the program and Cirque's website:
"Saltimbanco -from the Italian "saltare in banco", which literally means "to jump on a bench"-explores the urban experience in all its myriad forms: the people who live there, their idiosyncrasies and likenesses, families and groups, the hustle and bustle of the street and the towering heights of skyscrapers. Between whirlwind and lull, prowess and poetry, Saltimbanco takes spectators on an allegorical and acrobatic journey into the heart of the city."
Now, I have seen two shows in person and several more taped versions and I rarely ever see the connection between what is supposed to be the plot/story line and what is actually going on. I did however see it in a couple of the costumes of this show -- but that was really it. It is still an amazing show and the performers have such talent. They fly through the air with such grace and twirl around the stage with amazing speed -- it's truly remarkable. For anyone who has ever thought of going but has thought that it is too costly, let me tell you it's so worth the money (this coming from one of the cheapest people ever!). If you ever here of a show in your time I strongly advise you to get tickets -- you won't be let down.
Eventually I will see all the shows -- which means I will need to make several trips to Vegas to see the 5 permanent shows there.
