Truth

I was going through my list of blogs I watch and read on a regular basis and found this:
Both Chris (Always Standing) and C. Beth (One Minute Writer) posted similarly titled blog entries the other day. It almost seems (at first glance) like a post on One Minute Writer and then a rebuttle post of Always Standing.

Garden 2010 Part III

DSC_9991er I spent a little while out in the backyard this past weekend getting to know this year’s tulips (I realize they are the same tulips bulbs as last year and are therefore the same colours in the same spots, but the quality of each is a little different). This is the latest photo of my backyard tulips. Other than the fact that there is little grass in the backyard, and there are giant thistle-y weeds present (I have to get some gloves before I can remove them), the backyard is once again a pleasant place.

Way Back Whenesday: Mr Rogers Neighbourhood

Mr. Rogers Neighbourhood was a children's television show that aired from February 19, 1968 to February 20, 1976 and then again from August 27, 1979 to August 31, 2001.
The show was simple and calm, unlike a lot of children's shows nowadays and always started with Fred Rogers coming into the home, taking off his outdoor sweater and putting on his indoor sweater. He would then remove his outdoor sneakers and put on indoor sneakers.

Ontario, CA

Despite Chris' direct order about the previous post, I checked on my packages in EBay again. Turns out one of them has an active UPS tracking number - so I of course checked that out and was a little confused by the results.

You see, the above image is a screenshot of the tracking info UPS provided to me and it appears my package started in US then went to Ontario and then back to LA. At first glance, I though it had come to Ontario (Canada) and then went back to LA - 'why would it do this?' I asked myself. I then realized that it went to Ontario, CA, US not Ontario, Canada. But you can see how I would get confused right?!

Waiting for EBay

I purchased a number of items from EBay last week and have recently been told that they have all shipped. I am now in waiting mode where I check EBay, the mailbox and tracking sites for the location of my items. Unfortunately this regular checking does not seem to be speeding any of them up. Anyone know how to make them go faster?

Garden 2010 Part I & II

PART I

I wasn’t sure if they would make it through the winter, as they weren’t very deep in the ground when the snow finally came, but the tulips lived. I first noticed they were sprouting in early March.P1020724er

As you can see from the photo above, the snow was still around when they started coming up. What you likely can’t see is the the flowers in the middle elliptical bed are not nearly as tall as the ones on the outer bed – likely because the snow took longer to leave that area.
I was really worried when they came up so early as a couple more nights of frost came after they had sprouted. But they made it through that too.
PART II
I unfortunately I didn’t get out in the garden until this past weekend to take some shots of the tulips.DSC_9873er This photo was taken the second day of April – don’t they look much livelier?! I do love my tulips.

Way Back Whenesday: Looney Tunes

"Where's the Kaboom? There was supposed to be an Earth shatterin KABOOM!"

Every Sunday evening Dad and I would watch Looney Toons, The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show. We would watch it so regularly that I can hear the announcer saying the title in my head right now. One of my favourite characters was Marvin the Martian. As a matter of fact, he is still one of my favourite cartoon characters. My dad however, liked Duck Dodgers (in the 24 1/2 century!).

Back to It

March Madness is pretty much over. That is to say, the craziness is over. There are still reports to be finalized and a few to be written but the majority of the work is over. We do tend to send everything out in electronic copy for March 31 and then get the hardcopies out in early April so I suppose that is left to be done, but once again it is nothing compared to the work that needs to be done before March 31.
Since my work will likely be getting lighter in the next few days/weeks, I have come back to my blogs with the dedication they deserve. You may have noticed a severe drop in features as the ones that I hadn’t written in advance, Quotable Thursdays for example, did not published at all during March. I tried my best to get a post up as much as possible, but really there was only so much energy to be had and most of it was spent at work.
(Hopefully) You will be happy to hear that I am spending a great deal of this weekend working on my blogs and my photography. Hopefully I will be able to catch up in both departments.

One Minute Writer #54

Write about something that you wish didn't make you uncomfortable.

To be honest, there are a lot of things that make me uncomfortable, but the one that I would like to change the most is how uncomfortable I get in social situations. I am not good socially, never have been and probably never will be, but I would like it if i could just get through one conversation with someone who I haven’t known for years upon years without some sort of uncomfortable silence or awkward feeling. If I could get through it without saying something stupid or even worse, something I regret. I think I might talk about myself too much, or perhaps I bring up Dave too much. I know I bring up the same life experiences again and again and that bothers me a great deal. It is so easy for some people and that is one personality trait of which I am very jealous.
