Blog of Note: October

This blog doesn’t need me to help it get viewers or anything like that, but it is definitely one that I visit on a fairly regular basis: Cute Overload. Such adorable photos and videos with usually adorable and/or clever remarks about them. I have heard/read that it takes quite a lot of persistence to get a photo posted on Cute Overload, so what goes on there should be the best, right?

Blog of Note: December

As pretty much everyone knows, I love photos. I really love old photos. Forgotten Old Photos is a blog dedicated to posting old photos found in antique shops garage sales, etc. They have had several successful reunions with the old photos by returning them with the families of the subjects.

Blog of Note: November

Blog of note this month is a tasty blog entitled Love Letters in a Pan. Dave’s sister and her best friend have created a really original recipe blog in which they write letters to each other about their most recent baking and/or cooking endeavour. Check it out for some really tasty food ideas.

Blog of Note: September

So I have been slacking with my Blogs of Note so I spent a few hours surfing the net finding some really interesting sites…this is one of them.

LoopyBoopy is a blog showcasing Art Dolls created by Colleen Downs. They are slightly creepy and very odd and actually remind me of Tim Burton characters…perhaps that is why I like them and find them very interesting.

Blog of Note (July): Hyperbole and a Half

I found Hyperbole and a Half through one someone’s Facebook. Essentially the author writes about her life but includes images created in paint to illustrate things. I find her to be so freaking funny and though the posts are pretty infrequent, they are well worth the wait. I think you should check it out, especially her posts about the alot.

Blog of Note (June): Bitchy Waiter

The other day I stumbled across a blog entitled The Bitchy Waiter. As you can probably figure out, the blog is the trials and tribulations of being a waiter. The author is quite funny and the stories are the type that we all see/live. Check it out and see if it is for you too.

Blog of Note (March): Faces in Places

So here it is, March's Blog of Note: Faces in Places. A pretty cute blog, the author puts up photos of random items in which you can easily see a face. They range from cupcakes and trees to spice containers and t-shirts.

Blog of Note (February): Today I Saw

Another interesting blog entitled: Today I Saw. Essentially the creator and author, Jill, sees something around her each day, draws said thing and sends it "to someone she likes". It is a very simple idea, but very creative.

Blog of Note (January): EpiCute

Dave found me this site the other day while he was traversing his regular sites and I can't get enough of it. EpiCute is a collection of epicly cute images of cakes, cupcakes, lollies, and other treats. It often has images of faux-treats as well, like soap in the shape of a cookie.

I think the above image is my favourite one so far. It was can be found on EpiCute as well as when it was originally posted by sugarbloom.

Blog of Note (December): Totally Looks Like

Totally Looks Like is exactly what it says it is. People submit images of nouns that look like famous people. For example (this is for you Chris):Zach Efron totally looks like Toupee Dog. There are some that are funny like this one, and other that are stunningly accurate - at times I will be like oh that is Tim Allen, then look at the second image and see that the first wasn't Tim Allen, merely someone who looked EXACTLY like Tim Allen.

Blog of Note (November): Awkward Family Photos

This month's Blog of Note is Awkward Family Photos. Basically it is what the title says, a collection of really awkward, yet awesome, family photos. There are also some really great taglines for the photos. Seriously, check this one out.

Blog of Note (October): Letters of Note

I was wandering around Blogger today and stumbled across a blog they consider to be of note: Letters of Note. It is an interesting idea for a blog, and in many ways is similar to Post Secret and other collection type blogs.
According to the sites, "Letters of Note is an attempt to gather and sort fascinating letters, postcards, telegrams, faxes, and memos." It is updated every weekday with some sort of interesting note that was either collected by the creator or (assumed) submitted by readers.
My favourite recent post is this Call for Equality where many children wrote a letter to President Ford sometime between 1974 and 1977 to have a Kid's Day instated in similar fashion to Mother's and Father's Day. Their rational was that both parents have birthdays and these special days, so why shouldn't kids have both as well. To be honest, this was a thought I had when I was young too, though I never wrote any letters on the matter.

Monthly Feature: Blog of Note

I have spent most of the morning searching for random, interesting blogs and have decided to start yet another new feature here on The Great Abyss. It will be called Blog of Note and will be a monthly feature as I do not believe it would be something I could keep up at a higher frequency rate. I am planning on having it post on the first Monday of the month, but knowing me, if a month starts on a Tuesday I won't be able to restrain myself from posting earlier.
