One Minute Writer #58

Complete this thought: I usually forget...

a) anything I am trying to remember
Like a lot of people, I will leave a room with the clear intention of something specific. It may be going to pick something up, starting a new task, or looking into something I need an answer about. I will get to moving and halfway there I will forget what I was going to do or get. Sometimes I will have the clear intention of getting something from upstairs, decide along the way that I should go to the washroom and then forget to get or do the thing that made me go upstairs in the first place. It is very annoying.

b) my iPod before I head to bed
Almost every night, I listen to my iPod to fall asleep. This happens to be the same iPod I take to work with me on occasion and the one that goes with me to the gym to help me workout. 9 times out of 10, I will forget to take it upstairs with me and will get settled in bed only to have to get up and go back downstairs to get it from my purse or gym bag. Also very annoying.

Way Back Whenesday: Ice Ice baby

Vanilla Ice–Ice Ice Baby

You know you know the words and you know this song will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day. I actually seem to remember having a Vanilla Ice nightgown – is that the same as having Justin Beiber pajamas today?!

Rock Band

Oh Rock Band…how I love and loathe thee simultaneously.rock-bank-xbox-360
Justin’s parents were up over a week ago and brought his Rock Band with them. It is now set up in our living room and we have spent quite a while playing it. In fact, Justin and Dave are playing as I blog.

I like the drums the most but am still not very good at any of the instruments (guitar, drums, vocals). I do however, really like the free drumming parts like at the end of certain songs and when you want to activate your star power (I think start power is the guitar hero term, but I can’t think of the rock band term).

(image from Google – our version is also for the PS3 though the photos is the XBox 360 version).

Way Back Whenesday: Ace of Base

Ah Ace of Base. She saw the sign and it was all that she wanted.
I remember not only listening to this band constantly, but also doing dance routines to it for class. In Ms. Veltkamp's grade 4 class she had us do a song and dance routine. She had fake guitars, keyboard, etc and you would lip synch to any song you wanted. My group of 4 or 5 girls chose Ace of Base The Sign as our song and it was fabulous. I can remember some of the steps we did while we sang (that is what my role was - dancing and 'singing'), but unforunately can't describe them well enough for this post.
I also remember the rehearsal I skipped to hang out with my boyfriend. During the rehearsal Crystal fell and hit her head on the corner of the keyboard and cracked it open. She had to go to the emergency room and have stitched put in.

Techno Jeep

Dave sent me a link to this one day at work. I think it is really awesome. It is called Techno Jeep and more stuff from the creator can be found at Julian Smith TV.

DJ Earworm

A couple days ago Jerrica posted a link on her Facebook wall:

Turns out it is a mash-up of the top 25 (most popular) songs from 2009 (as determined by Billboard Magazine) done by DJ Earworm. Since Dave loves music I sent the link to him and he in turn starting looking for more from him and found his website with tons of mash-ups on it including his annual top 25 mash-up from the past few years. The mixes are absolutely amazes and as another friend put it further proves that American pop songs are so similar that they can be made into one song - I add to that, if you are good enough at mixing.

Brittany Murphy

Brittany Murphy died yesterday (December 20, 2009) at age 32 apparently from cardiac arrest. An autopsy is being performed to determine if this was indeed the cause of death.
She starred in a couple classic teen movies such as Clueless, but also more serious dramas like Girl, Interrupted. She also had some face time on the tabloids when she was dating Ashton Kutcher in 2002. Brittany Murphy dabbled in music as well when she sang with Paul Oaklenfold and also in the movie Happy Feet.
She seemed to have a good career going for her, and on the more quiet side of Hollywood to boot. I really hope her death is confirmed to be natural and the tabloids let her rest in peace.

Mixed Tape

I recently pressed play on my CD player only to find that one of the CDs Dave made for me was inside. This was the third (I believe) 'love CD' he made and it was compiled shortly before my trip to London with Chris in January of 2008. I know this not because I read the read me file on the CD or because I remembered off the top of my head, but rather because he incorporated little airline and British sound clips into it. It is very sweet and makes me realize just how incredibly lucky I am. I love Dave very much and I know by the little things that he does for me, that he loves me just as much as I love him. I am a very lucky human being.

Apple

I joined the sensation that has been going on for years...the iPod. I had resisted buying one before now for several reasons - one of the largest reasons being the immense cost (they used to cost upwards of $500 for even a basic one). They have come down in price significantly, at least the more basic ones have as the iPod Touch and iPhone are still quite expensive. Another reason I had yet to buy one was the size problems. In my opinion, they had yet to get the combination of size of screen to size of machine right. The iPod I purchased was the pink iPod Nano 4th Generation, 16GB (the image to the right is the 8GB but it looks the same) - I am synching it up with the music on my laptop now and will probably do some more 'synching' when I get the portable drive connected sometime later in the week.

Apologize

I am really liking this song lately - actually it gets stuck in my head all the freaking time and whenever I try to explain it to someone with the lyrics "it's toolate to apologize, it's tooo late" no one knows what I am attempting to sing, you know because I can't sing worth a dime. Anyways, take a listen and let me know what you think:

19 days

As I was posting my entries for today I noticed that there are only 19 days left until Chris and I leave for London. I am so freaking excited I can't express it. I have so much to do when I get back to Ottawa. I have pretty much everything bought and received everything I didn't buy as Christmas gifts so all I have left to do outside of my house is getting some money exchanged which I need to talk to Chris about because she said something about it a month or so ago and I totally forget what it was. I have to photocopy my documents and send a copy to my parents along with an itinerary (which I will also be posting on here more likely) and I still have two more pounds to lose to reach my first weight loss goal. I have starting working on the playlist for my MP3 player as I will be needing it pretty badly for the plane and bus rides as well as falling asleep at night in what it likely to be a loud and well-lit hostel room. If you think of any good songs that would be suitable for the trip let me know - I of course have a London/British theme going but am putting another set of songs on my USB key as I know I will get sick of that a couple days into the trip.
