The Day the Honey Ran Out

Dave and I recently celebrated our 8-year anniversary. For the occasion I decided to make an extremely delicious strawberry shortcake dessert. To try to make things fit into our new lifestyle a little better, I decided to sweeten it with honey rather than white sugar. I managed to get enough honey for the dessert, but I had to decapitate my honey bear in order to get the very last bits of honey from the jar. IMG-20120114-00272

Dessert was delicious though (recipe will be posted later this week on Road to a Better Me).

Christmas 2010 Add-On

Yep so I posted a Christmas List for 2010 and have since found something that I REALLY want: Moleskine: Passions Recipe Journal!! I have been thinking of a way to organize my recipes for some time - since my recipe book got a little ruined during a dishwasher or sink (I forget which) overflowing situation. If I don't get one for Christmas I will end up buying myself one, but I am going to be as patient as I can and wait ... but I don't want to.

Blog of Note: November

Blog of note this month is a tasty blog entitled Love Letters in a Pan. Dave’s sister and her best friend have created a really original recipe blog in which they write letters to each other about their most recent baking and/or cooking endeavour. Check it out for some really tasty food ideas.

Weight Loss Blog

So I started my weight loss blog, The Road to A Better Me, quite some time ago and was very dedicated to it - initially. As my weight loss slowed, the posts on that blog did as well. Recently though, I have started posting regularly again and have found that it is really helping my weight loss. In case you read it before and stopped due to the irregular posting, please visit it again and see if you are once again interested. I am posting regularly not only about my progress, but also with tips and recipes I am encountering along the way.

Garlic-Rosemary Potatoes

Whenever I visit Dave's family I know I am going to eat well. His sister can bake up the most delicious things and both of his parents are very good cooks. One of my favourite things they make are these roasted potatoes with rosemary. When I was there in the summer they made them and I finally worked up the nerve to ask about the ingredients. They are really simple actually.
You just peel and cut up potatoes into bit size pieces and then put them in a glass bowl. Put a little olive oil and/or butter on them then season them with some rosemary (I have since added garlic). If you add a little Montreal steak spice they get even better tasting. You pop them in the microwave for about 10 minutes and then wrap them up in tinfoil and either place them on the BBQ or in the oven for another 10 to 15 minutes. Alternatively you can just keep them in the microwave longer. Very yummy.
