One Minute Writer #11

Write about something you believed as a child, that you no longer believe.

As we grow up I feel there are many childhood beliefs that fall to the waist side. I am not talking about the beliefs about Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy or the Easter Bunny, but the ones about people or the world in general. Young children tend to believe that the world is a wonderful place where everyone is happy and so on but as we grow older, we come to the realization that there are many hurtful things (and people) in this world. Things much worse than being called a mean name or not having someone to play with at recess. I wonder what the world would be like if we all held onto our childhood beliefs about people. Would it be better? Or do you believe it would result in a great deal of denial and ignorance?
